The Impact of HCC Environmental - Level Prevention Strategies``

The Hialeah Community Coalition addresses the Prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD) use and misuse in Hialeah by implementing broader community-level strategies that will change the local conditions where substance use and misuse happens.

The environmental strategies below aim at changing or influencing institutions, local social norms favorable to substance use, local conditions, structures, systems, and policies to promote a healthier and drug-free Hialeah.

Capacity-Building Strategies that Strengthens and Mobilizes the Coalition

The Hialeah Community Coalition continuously engages in activities and strategies that equip the coalition members with the skills and knowledge to implement the work of Prevention.

This includes the following:
– Informative sessions relevant to national, state, and local trends in alcohol, marijuana, tobacco, and other drug use and misuse afflicting our families.
– Training and workshops to enhance the skills of its members in various aspects related to Prevention including planning, implementation, evaluation, sustainability, and cultural competence
– HCC Bi-Monthly Meetings to formalize the commitment of the community and key stakeholders to include members representing the twelve sectors.
